RE: Igbo Women League of Minnesota's Fundraising 2014

The Igbo Women League of Minnesota (“IWL”) would like to solicit your support as we celebrate our 20th Mother’s Day Celebration from May 3, 2014 through May 10, 2014. This is our annual fundraising event to support the projects that we undertake in order to fulfill the many objectives of the organization.

IWL is a non-profit organization that is committed to unifying, identifying, educating and promoting the socio-cultural and economic development of Igbo Women and their families residing in Minnesota, while improving women and children’s lives in Nigeria.

Based on generous donations in past years, IWL has been able to support and equip nine (9) orphanages in Nigeria. These orphanages abound in Nigeria due to the high incidence of death of women of childbearing age. We have also set up scholarship funds for the educational advancement of thirty (30) female students from low-income families in Nigeria. These scholarship funds cover educational costs from junior high through senior high school for these students. Eighteen (18) of our scholarship recipients have graduated from high school and some of them are already in the university. IWL is currently exploring the possibility of sponsoring those students through university. With your support, we can make that a reality.

Locally, IWL has, since its inception, worked to promote unity between the Igbos and the greater Minnesota community, and also enhance cultural awareness by funding and implementing various cultural and educational projects.

All these and other projects cannot be sustained without your generous support and contributions. Other ways you can assist us include sponsoring a student for one year ($300) or more; advertising your business or recognizing the important women in your life in our brochure; participating in the 5K/1K Fun Run/Walk on May 3, 2014; or making a donation on the day of the event.
